gah!

so i joined netflix about a month ago and have yet to watch the first movie that was sent to me. (i've watched two total. i think i should cancel.) so today, i finally decide that it is time to watch it. i open it to find that the disk is in two pieces. well i'm glad i've been holding on to that for a month.

The problem with netflix (which is why I'd never join) is that you lose the option of "choice" when picking what you want to see.

Sure I could generate a list of movies I'd like to see, but I might not be in the mood for "Dumb and Dumber" this week and might rather watch "Ghandi" instead. Only This week Netflix sent me "Dumb and Dumber."

The other thing is that they engage in something called "Throttling" which means if you turn out to be a "High volume" viewer you get placed on the bottom of the list for all of your "First Choices" and any "New Releases."

So In this instance, for me, Netflix isn't a better alternative to the price of gas and a trip out to the rental store.

I must say I feel like I save money with Netflix based on the fact that we rent together like 10 movies a month, but I am a little frustrted by the system. I mean, I'm not always in the mood for what is next in my queue. Also, since I'm sharing with Aaron, sometimes we'll have three of his movies (read: boring) and nothing for me to watch. And this makes me sad. Blockbuster has this thing that is like Netflix, but you can pick up the movies, but the Blockbuster in Charlottesville SUCKS ass and has no selection. If only sneak reviews had something like that. Sneak Reviews rules.

Lexi,
You need to drop the Aaron part of your Netflix equation. Feel the full power of 3!

Laura,
Sorry to use your blog to write messages to other people. I'm sure that violates some unwritten rule of blog visitors or something.

Either way, I'm headed up to C'ville on Sunday, just in time for everyone to head out of town. So, looks like I'll be seeing y'all in a week or so. Looking forward to it, you gift boxers you!

Anthony! (I think I've earned that exclamation point)
